Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) has opened its first Samsung Skill Development Center at the Government Polytechnic in Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka. This was done as part of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) work.
The center includes five new labs focused on Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), Cybersecurity, Automation, Robotics, and Core Engineering. These labs are designed to give students hands-on learning experiences.
The goal is to help students, especially in remote areas, build useful skills and grow their interest in engineering and technology. The labs are equipped with modern tools so that students can practice and learn in a real-world environment. This setup encourages learning by doing and helps students become better prepared for jobs in various industries.
Balajee Sowrirajan, EVP & MD, SSIR, said, “This initiative marks a pivotal step in enabling a hands-on experience for students in rural Karnataka. We fully support the Government of India’s mission on skill development and are committed to bridging the digital divide. By empowering students with knowledge in AI, IoT, and other emerging technologies, we aim to create limitless opportunities and secure India’s place in the global digital economy.”
