Siemens has opened an expanded train factory in Munich-Allach, investing around €250 million since 2023 in new buildings, upgraded production facilities, and AI-driven software systems. This site is part of Siemens Mobility’s service network in Europe and highlights its continued focus on Germany for manufacturing and development.
The expansion will create over 500 jobs, bringing the total workforce to about 2,500. The factory now has twice the production space and will start making Vectouro passenger cars in addition to the Vectron locomotive models. This is the first time all Vectron-based products will be produced at the same location.
The site’s service capacity will also triple. Siemens Mobility is moving its headquarters to this location, which will now house several core functions including research and development, production, service, and management. This setup is part of Siemens’ plan to improve coordination and delivery by bringing different parts of the business closer together. The move supports the company’s broader strategy to develop and roll out new technologies more efficiently.
