Panasonic and VicOne Expand Vehicle Cybersecurity for Next-Gen Cockpits

Panasonic Automotive Systems and VicOne have developed a new cybersecurity feature for next-generation vehicle cockpit systems and have completed its technical testing. This solution brings together VicOne’s xCarbon security software and Panasonic’s VERZEUSE for Virtualization Extensions Type-3, enhancing protection for vehicles running container-based systems like Automotive Grade Linux.

The setup allows for secure monitoring of communication between different software containers in vehicles. These containers manage systems like infotainment and instrument clusters, which are often exposed to networks and can be vulnerable to cyber threats. The innovation isolates the monitoring function in a secure container that checks data flow and blocks suspicious activity, reducing the risk of cyber attacks on key vehicle functions.

This upgraded system will be showcased at the ITS World Congress 2025 in Atlanta. It’s designed to meet cybersecurity needs as connected cars and software-defined vehicles become more common.
