Toshiba Corporation has been named a Supplier Engagement Leader by CDP, a global non-profit focused on environmental reporting and action. This marks the third year in a row that Toshiba has received the highest rating in the CDP’s Supplier Engagement Assessment (SEA).
The SEA measures how well companies work with their suppliers to address climate-related challenges. It evaluates areas such as governance, strategy, supply chain emissions (Scope 3), risk management and target-setting. The aim is to encourage stronger cooperation across supply chains to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Earlier in 2024, Toshiba was also included in CDP’s A List for both climate change and water security. The company has set targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 70% by fiscal year 2030 (compared to 2019 levels) and reach carbon neutrality by 2050.
Toshiba’s approach includes reducing emissions not just from its own operations (Scope 1 and 2), but also from indirect sources (Scope 3), particularly those related to purchased goods and product usage. It engages with suppliers based on its Green Procurement Guidelines and works with selected partners to promote emission reductions. These efforts were a key factor in CDP’s recognition this year.
