Reliance Retail has acquired the Kelvinator brand from Sweden-based Electrolux. The deal gives Reliance full ownership of the home appliance brand in India. Kelvinator is known for refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners and other kitchen appliances. Before this, Reliance had a licensing agreement to use the brand since 2019. Now, with this acquisition, the company can directly manage the brand and its future plans.

Electrolux confirmed that it made a profit of about 180 million Swedish crowns (around US$18.5 million) from the sale. Reliance has not shared the amount it paid to complete the deal. The acquisition is expected to help Reliance strengthen its presence in the Indian appliance market.

Kelvinator is a long-established name in India, and this move adds to Reliance’s growing portfolio in the consumer electronics and appliances segment. It also aligns with the company’s broader retail strategy across categories.
