Bitchat a new messaging app backed by Jack Dorsey, is now available on the App Store. This app lets people chat without needing internet or mobile data. It works using Bluetooth mesh technology, where nearby phones pass messages between each other.

The app doesn’t require a phone number, email or account to use. You just open the app, set a display name and start chatting. All messages are encrypted end-to-end and are not stored on any server. They stay on your device and disappear after a short time.

Bitchat Mesh is especially useful in places where internet access is limited or unavailable like during natural disasters or large public events. It’s designed to keep communication private and offline.
