Bosch Sensortec has unveiled the BMI5 platform at CES 2026, introducing a new generation of high precision MEMS motion sensors designed for robotics, XR devices, wearables, and premium consumer electronics. The platform sets a new sensing standard focused on accuracy, low noise, and energy efficiency.
The BMI5 platform is built on a shared hardware architecture with software level customization and launches with three variants, BMI560, BMI563, and BMI570. Each sensor combines accelerometer and gyroscope functions to help devices understand movement and orientation more precisely.
BMI560 is designed for XR headsets, smartphones, and action cameras. It delivers low latency head tracking for virtual and augmented reality and supports advanced image stabilization for clearer photos and videos. BMI563 targets robotics and VR controllers, handling strong vibrations and extreme motion. It enables precise navigation and gesture tracking, even in challenging conditions such as obstructed camera views. BMI570 focuses on wearables like smartwatches and wireless earbuds. It offers a doubled measurement range compared to earlier models, improving gesture detection and enabling accurate head tracking for spatial audio.
The platform also includes an edge AI engine that classifies motion directly on the sensor. This reduces power consumption, enables faster responses, and supports features like automatic activity detection. Bosch states the BMI5 platform meets its highest sustainability standards to date and supports scalable production as the MEMS sensor market continues to grow.
