Meta is also testing an AI support assistant on Facebook that can help with tasks like recovery, settings, and profile management, with plans to consider it for other apps later.
The platforms report a notable reduction in new account hacks over the past year and improvements in their ability to identify suspicious activity through AI systems that monitor signals in real time. These systems aim to prevent unauthorized logins and reduce the number of accounts mistakenly disabled. The appeals process has also been updated to be faster and more straightforward for eligible cases.
Account recovery has been refined with clearer steps, adaptive verification methods, and recognition of trusted devices and usual locations. Optional selfie video verification has been added as another way to confirm identity. Additional tools such as Security Checkup, two-factor authentication, and passkeys are available for users who want to review or strengthen their account protection.
