Facebook announced a set of updates designed to make finding, watching, and discussing Reels more intuitive. The platform’s upgraded recommendations engine now learns user preferences faster, showing fresher and more relevant videos. These updates aim to help people connect more naturally through shared interests.
The improved recommendation system prioritizes recent content, surfacing 50% more Reels from creators on the same day they’re published. It also recognizes viewer feedback users can mark a reel as “Not Interested” or flag comments, allowing the system to refine future suggestions. The Save feature has also been simplified, helping users collect and organize their favorite Reels and posts while fine-tuning recommendations.
A new friend bubbles feature shows which Reels or Feed posts friends have liked. Tapping a bubble opens a private chat, making it easier to share reactions or discuss content. Early tests show users enjoy discovering what their friends are watching and starting spontaneous conversations.
Facebook is also introducing AI-powered suggested search on select Reels, helping users explore related topics without leaving the player.
Together, these updates focus on making Facebook more personalized and interactive, strengthening how users discover and connect over the content they enjoy.
