Google Cloud has announced its largest investment in India to date, committing approximately $15 billion over the next five years (2026–2030) to establish its first Artificial Intelligence hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This investment aims to accelerate India’s AI-driven digital transformation while creating high-value jobs and fostering economic activity in both India and the U.S.
The Visakhapatnam AI hub will feature a gigawatt-scale data center campus, built to global standards, providing high-performance, low-latency AI infrastructure for businesses, startups, and researchers. The hub will leverage large-scale energy sources and an expanded fiber-optic network to support AI innovation across sectors.
In addition, the project includes the construction of a new international subsea gateway, bringing multiple subsea cables to India’s eastern coast. This will enhance connectivity, improve route diversity, and strengthen the resilience of India’s digital backbone, complementing existing landings in Mumbai and Chennai.
Aligned with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, the investment emphasizes responsible, sustainable growth. Google plans to integrate clean energy generation, transmission lines, and energy storage systems to maintain environmentally responsible operations. By delivering advanced AI infrastructure and global connectivity, the Visakhapatnam hub positions India as a leader in AI innovation, digital inclusivity, and next-generation technology development, benefiting businesses, developers, and society at large.
