Fujitsu Limited and Acer Medical have partnered to develop aiGait, an AI-powered solution that uses skeleton recognition technology to detect abnormal gait patterns linked to dementia and Parkinson’s disease. The system, part of Fujitsu Uvance offering under Kozuchi for Vision is designed to support early diagnosis through quantifiable movement data.

The agreement was signed on 25 June 2025, with initial testing planned at the Taipei Veterans Hospital’s daycare facility. Cameras will capture patient movement like sitting, standing, walking and AI will compare it with gait data typical in dementia cases. Acer Medical aims to introduce aiGait in elderly care facilities across Taiwan by the end of 2025.

By turning everyday motion into clinical insight, the solution helps healthcare workers spot early, subtle signs of neurological decline. This is part of Acer Medical’s goal to expand affordable AI-powered healthcare and Fujitsu’s broader Uvance initiative to co-create solutions addressing social challenges using AI and data.

The companies also aim to extend the use of aiGait beyond elder care, with potential applications in sports, pediatric neurodevelopment and cerebral palsy support.
