Garmin announced the launch of Garmin OnBoard, a new wireless Man Overboard (MOB) and engine cutoff system that enhances boating safety by replacing traditional tethered cords with smart wearable tags. The system integrates with Garmin ECHOMAP and GPSMAP chartplotters to automatically mark a waypoint, trigger alarms, and cut the engine if the captain falls overboard.
Each tag can be worn on a wristband, carabiner, or key ring float, and users can assign up to eight tags for passengers, children, or pets. Tags can be temporarily disabled for swimming or excursions, and their battery life can last beyond a full boating season. The system meets U.S. federal requirements for Engine Cutoff Links and works with any compatible boat setup.
Priced at $499.99 for the full system and $149.99 per additional tag, Garmin OnBoard offers an accessible, wireless way to improve safety on the water. The company continues its long-standing focus on innovation in marine safety, recognized with multiple National Safe Boating Awards.
