Garmin has received FAA approval for a full avionics modernization of the Cessna Citation CJ1, building on its earlier CJ2 retrofit program. The upgrade replaces the jet’s original flight systems with an all-Garmin cockpit, aimed at improving safety, reducing pilot workload and extending the aircraft’s life.
The new setup includes G600 TXi touchscreen flight displays, GTN Xi navigators and a GFC 600 digital autopilot. Pilots benefit from synthetic vision, map overlays, stabilized approach monitoring and engine data integration. GI 275 standby instruments add extra safety by operating on emergency power.
Autopilot upgrades allow for smoother descents, automatic go-arounds and emergency descent mode. GTN Xi navigators support coupled vertical navigation and holding patterns, along with wireless data sharing from mobile devices.
