Garmin has introduced the Force Current, a new trolling motor designed specifically for kayak anglers. This system features hands-free throttle and steering control, allowing users to fish without setting their rod down. It includes a brushless motor that delivers full forward and reverse thrust, helping navigate through tight spaces, along shorelines or in weed-filled areas.

The motor can be controlled using wireless foot pedals or a handheld remote with gesture steering. The pedals connect wirelessly and can be installed in different ways to suit various kayak setups. Buttons on the pedals are programmable, giving quick access to functions like anchor lock and heading hold.

Force Current runs on either 24V or 12V and uses Garmin’s smart anchor lock system, powered by multi-band GPS, to stay in place even in wind or current. It can also be controlled using a compatible Garmin smartwatch or integrated with a Garmin chartplotter for route planning and motor control.

Safety features include a wireless man overboard tag that automatically shuts off the motor if the operator falls overboard. The motor is lightweight, easy to install and built to withstand both freshwater and saltwater use. Two propeller options are included for different fishing conditions.
