Garmin has received approval to install its GFC 600H flight control system in Airbus H130 helicopters. This system is designed to reduce pilot workload and improve how the aircraft handles during different phases of flight.

The GFC 600H includes several features made specifically for helicopters. These include attitude hold with speed stability, hover assist, and Garmin’s Helicopter Electronic Stability and Protection (H-ESP). It also has a return-to-level function and safety tools that prevent flying too fast or too slow. A mode controller with push-button controls, which works with night vision goggles, helps pilots manage the system easily. Smart servos adjust the aircraft’s movement to keep flight smooth and stable.

Hover assist can recognize when the helicopter is hovering and help the pilot stay in place and maintain heading. The system can also work with other Garmin tools to guide the helicopter during navigation, including approaches and search and rescue patterns.

Its sensors and built-in safety systems support steady handling and reduce pilot workload, especially when flying manually. The GFC 600H also includes altitude and heading controls, along with features that help avoid flying outside safe limits. Even if the system isn’t fully active, it can still help keep the helicopter stable. Pilots can also use a dedicated button to return the aircraft to level flight in poor visibility.
