GST Rate Reduced for Electronic Appliances in India

The GST Council has announced new tax rates for electronic appliances effective September 22, 2025msimplifying the structure to two main slabs – 5% and 18%. Several major appliances that previously attracted a 28% GST rate will now be taxed at 18%. This change covers air conditioners, televisions above 32″, dishwashers, Monitors and Projectors.

The GST reduction means that appliances including air-conditioners, large televisions and washing machines move from the earlier luxury bracket to a standard rate, lowering their final market price. No rate changes were made for luxury goods or non-essential items beyond these common household electronics.
