The Government of India has approved the first batch of seven projects under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) with a total investment of ₹5,532 crore. These projects are expected to generate production worth ₹36,559 crore and create over 5,100 direct jobs. The approved units are located across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, supporting balanced regional growth.
The new manufacturing units will meet 100% of India’s copper clad laminate demand, 20% of printed circuit board needs, and 15% of camera module requirements. Around 60% of the production will be exported. The projects include facilities for multi-layer and HDI PCBs, camera modules, copper clad laminates, and polypropylene films essential parts for smartphones, vehicles, and industrial electronics.
This marks India’s entry into base material manufacturing, reducing import dependence and building reliable supply chains for sectors like defence, telecom, EVs, and renewable energy. ECMS also strengthens the country’s vision of becoming a hub for end-to-end electronics production and innovation.
