LG Electronics is rolling out its new air-cooled Inverter Scroll Chiller to more markets in 2025. The system uses R32 refrigerant, which has about 70% lower Global Warming Potential than R410A. It is designed to provide both chilled and hot water, making it useful for mid-sized commercial buildings.
The chiller includes LG’s All-Inverter compressors and HiPOR system to improve energy efficiency, with an IPLV of up to 5.9. It can operate in extreme temperatures from -10°C to 60°C and has features like compressor backup and sequential defrost to ensure year-round performance.
Control systems vary based on project size, from touch panels to LG’s BECON platform for large installations. An energy-saving algorithm can cut power use by up to 10%, and the system supports quiet operation.
In the USA a Florida school replaced its old system with LG’s units and reported an 18% energy reduction and lower noise levels.
