LG Electronics has announced that its webOS-based Automotive Content Platform (ACP) will be used in Kia’s new European models, starting with the EV3. The system will also be rolled out to upcoming models such as the EV4, EV5 and the new Sportage. This move brings LG’s in-car streaming capabilities to European drivers after its earlier launch in Korea.
The ACP is powered by LG’s webOS, the same platform found in over 240 million of its smart TVs. Adapted for automotive use, it offers a familiar and simple interface for streaming content inside the car. As part of LG’s software-defined vehicle suite, AlphaWare, ACP helps turn the car interior into a space for entertainment, designed with safety and usability in mind.
Passengers can stream content from platforms like Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, LG Channels and more, with additional services like Rakuten TV and Joyn expected later this year. Video playback is restricted to when the car is parked, making sure safety standards are met. This feature aims to give users a more engaging experience during breaks, turning the car into a temporary lounge or cinema.
