Meta and GSA Partner to Expand AI Use Across US Federal Government

The US General Services Administration (GSA) has partnered with Meta to make Llama open source AI models available to federal agencies under the OneGov initiative. This approach streamlines access by eliminating separate agency agreements and helps accelerate AI adoption across government operations.

Since Llama models are free and open source, agencies can build, deploy, and scale AI applications without licensing costs while retaining full control over sensitive data. This enables more efficient services for the public and reduces dependence on closed AI providers.

The collaboration supports the goals of America’s AI Action Plan and recent federal guidance focused on innovation, governance, and efficient AI acquisition. Agencies can now test and adapt AI tools more easily, fostering transparency and reproducibility in government research and applications.
