Meta announced a joint venture with funds managed by Blue Owl Capital to finance, build, and operate the Hyperion data center campus in Richland Parish, Louisiana. The $27 billion project will combine Meta’s 15 years of data center development expertise with Blue Owl’s deep experience in digital infrastructure investment. Under the agreement, Blue Owl Capital will hold an 80% stake, while Meta retains 20%.
Meta will manage construction and operations, contributing land and construction assets to the venture. Blue Owl provided a $7 billion cash investment, and Meta received a $3 billion distribution. Once completed, the facility will support over 500 operational jobs and employ thousands during construction.
The venture structure offers Meta long-term flexibility through four-year renewable leases and a 16-year residual value guarantee. The project will be partly funded by debt issued to PIMCO and other bond investors. The Hyperion campus will play a key role in powering Meta’s AI infrastructure and future data operations.
