Microsoft is reimagining teamwork with AI-powered human-agent collaboration through Microsoft 365 Copilot. Purpose-built agents are embedded directly in Teams, SharePoint, and Viva Engage, designed to work within the natural flow of collaboration. Each agent is context-aware and tailored to the unique needs of groups, whether in channels, meetings, or communities.
For example, a dedicated Project Agent in a Teams channel can summarize threads, draft plans, schedule checkpoints, and coordinate tasks with the Project Manager Agent. In meetings, the Facilitator Agent prepares agendas, takes notes, captures decisions, assigns follow-ups, and even helps manage time. Meanwhile, a Community Agent in Viva Engage boosts engagement by handling announcements, answering common questions, and supporting community managers.
Behind the scenes, the Knowledge Agent in SharePoint organizes files, applies metadata, tracks updates, and connects related content across workspaces. This ensures Microsoft 365 Copilot can deliver accurate, cited answers to questions like “What’s our approved positioning?”
These agents streamline every stage of work, from planning to execution and communication, while supporting partner-built extensions through Model Context Protocol . Now in public preview, with the Facilitator Agent generally available, organizations can confidently adopt this next evolution of teamwork under Microsoft’s trusted security, compliance, and privacy standards.
