Microsoft and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Form Multiyear Partnership

Microsoft and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team have announced a multiyear partnership focused on using cloud and AI technologies across race team operations. The announcement was made on 22 January 2026 in Redmond and Brackley.

The collaboration comes as Formula 1 enters a new regulatory phase in 2026 with greater emphasis on electrification, efficiency and sustainability. As part of the partnership Microsoft’s cloud, AI and productivity tools will be integrated across factory and trackside operations to support performance analysis, simulations, race strategy and real time decision making.

Each race car generates over 1.1 million data points per second through more than 400 sensors. Microsoft Azure and AI services will support high performance computing needs, scalable simulations and analytics. The team will also expand use of Microsoft 365 and GitHub to improve collaboration, software development and engineering workflows.
