Microsoft has set out a long term plan to support Thailand’s move toward an AI enabled economy under the Building Thailand’s AI Powered Future initiative. The announcement follows ongoing discussions between Microsoft leaders and the Royal Thai Government, including a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr Ekniti Nitithanprapas. The plan focuses on local cloud and AI infrastructure, wider digital and AI literacy and stronger innovation capacity for Thai businesses and developers. A key step is the joint creation of the Microsoft National AI Innovation Center.
Microsoft is working with partners like CP Group, True Corporation, True IDC, Gulf Development and AIS to build a local cloud region that complies with Thai data regulations. This will let local organizations build and scale AI solutions within the country. Several Thai enterprises are already preparing to use the new cloud region to modernize operations and develop AI based services. EGAT is using cloud and AI tools to support its digital plans. KBTG is applying AI for better insights and decision making. SCBX is building conversational banking tools and other AI driven services.
Microsoft is also expanding AI skill building programs for educators, workers and social sector groups to support a future ready workforce across Thailand.
