Microsoft has announced a $15.2 billion investment in the United Arab Emirates between 2023 and 2029, reinforcing its long-term commitment to developing the nation’s AI and cloud ecosystem in partnership with G42, the UAE’s sovereign AI company. The investment includes AI infrastructure, datacenters, and talent development, underscoring Microsoft’s focus on technology, talent, and trust.
Since launching the initiative, Microsoft has already invested over $7.3 billion, including a $1.5 billion equity stake in G42, and plans to invest another $7.9 billion through 2029 for expanded AI and cloud operations. The company is deploying tens of thousands of Nvidia GPUs to power AI innovation across the country, helping the UAE maintain its global leadership in AI adoption.
Beyond technology, Microsoft is cultivating local talent through initiatives like the Global Engineering Development Center and the AI for Good Lab in Abu Dhabi, alongside programs to skill one million people by 2027.
The company is also deepening bilateral trust through frameworks like the Intergovernmental Assurance Agreement and the Responsible AI Future Foundation, promoting responsible AI development across the Middle East and Global South. Microsoft’s vision aligns with the UAE’s ambition to be a global AI leader while driving inclusive growth.
