Motorola Solutions has announced a new initiative to improve transparency around its use of artificial intelligence: AI nutrition labels. These labels are designed to give users a clearer understanding of how AI functions within the company’s safety and security products.

The labels will include details such as the type of AI being used, who owns the processed data, the degree of human oversight, and the specific purpose of the AI application. The idea mirrors food nutrition labels offering a breakdown of key components to help users make informed decisions.

AI plays a central role in Motorola Solutions’ product ecosystem, supporting law enforcement, emergency services, and enterprise security. According to the company, these technologies are meant to enhance human decision-making during fast-moving incidents by providing context from multiple data sources.

This initiative is guided by Motorola’s internal Technology Advisory Committee, which reviews the ethical and practical implications of its technologies. The goal is to ensure AI is used responsibly and understood clearly by its users especially in sensitive areas like public safety.
