LG Energy Solution backed NextStar Energy has produced its one millionth battery cell at its Windsor Canada facility, marking a key milestone since commercial production began in November 2025.

The plant has onboarded more than 1,300 employees and represents over $5 billion CAD in total investment. It is Canada’s first commercial scale battery manufacturing facility and operates under ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and IATF 16949 certifications covering environmental management, workplace safety and automotive quality standards.

LG Energy Solution will acquire full ownership of NextStar Energy, while Stellantis will remain a customer. Under the new structure, the company plans to expand supply to the Energy Storage System sector and respond more quickly to market demand.

Production of energy storage battery cells is expected to accelerate through 2026, supporting Canada’s position in global battery manufacturing.
