NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang and chief scientist Bill Dally have been awarded the 2025 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering for their contributions to accelerated computing, which underpins today’s AI and machine learning systems. Presented by King Charles III at St James’s Palace, the award recognizes their role in developing GPU architectures that transformed computing performance and enabled modern AI.
Their work has reshaped the computer industry by advancing parallel processing and creating hardware and software capable of supporting large-scale AI models and simulations. Huang described the moment as an honor and called AI the most significant shift in computing since the microprocessor. Dally noted that years of innovation in stream processing and system design laid the foundation for AI’s growth.
The pair also joined a roundtable at 10 Downing Street with U.K. officials to discuss advancing AI education and engineering skills, coinciding with National Engineering Day.
