Panasonic Industry has announced plans to double global production capacity for its MEGTRON multi-layer circuit board materials over the next five years. This expansion is driven by rising demand from AI servers and ICT infrastructure. To achieve this, the company will invest around 17 billion yen in a new facility at its Ayutthaya Plant in Thailand. Operations are expected to begin in November 2027 with mass production starting by the end of fiscal year 2028.

The growth of generative AI is increasing the need for high-speed and high-capacity communication hardware. MEGTRON materials are designed to minimize signal degradation, making them critical for stable and efficient transmission in servers, switches and routers. The new facility will cover about 19,400 square meters and follow Panasonic’s Slim & Smart Factory concept featuring automation and energy-efficient systems to support sustainability goals.
