Panasonic Holdings has announced that its Expo 2025 Osaka Pavilion, The Land of NOMO, will reach a recycling and reuse rate of more than 99% for building materials, leaving less than 1% for disposal. Designed under the theme of Circulation the pavilion reflects the company’s long term environmental vision Panasonic GREEN IMPACT.

Materials such as iron, copper, concrete, gypsum boards, plastics and pipes will be recycled through partnerships with processing companies. Recycled iron and copper from home appliances, used in the pavilion’s structure and wiring, will be returned to recycling schemes for reuse in Panasonic products.

Key elements of the pavilion will also be repurposed. Paving blocks made from recycled glass of around 9,200 washing machines will be relocated to Panasonic facilities and Obayashi Corporation’s research institute. Lighting, speakers, and facade materials will be reused at future projects, including the International Horticultural Expo 2027. Even uniforms will be collected and recycled.

This effort supports Expo 2025’s sustainability target of a 98.1% recycling rate and demonstrates Panasonic’s approach to resource circularity while reducing environmental impact.
