RailTel has partnered with Nokia to modernize its NLD and metro optical transport networks across India. The collaboration upgrades RailTel’s DWDM backbone and deploys new IP routing and optical transport solutions that improve capacity, efficiency, and long-term scalability while keeping costs under control.

Key points

  • Nokia has upgraded RailTel’s NLD DWDM network using the 1830 Photonic Service Switch and advanced transponders.
  • The network now delivers higher transport capacity and better cost efficiency by reusing existing infrastructure and unused channel spectrum.
  • New high-capacity lambda transmission and express lanes improve intercity traffic performance.
  • Nokia’s 7750 Service Router with BNG and CG-NAT strengthens RailTel’s ability to support enterprise and ISP traffic on a unified architecture.
  • The partnership follows an open, vendor-neutral approach to support future innovation.
