Samsung and OpenAI have signed a letter of intent to collaborate on global AI data center infrastructure and future technologies. The partnership brings together Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDS, Samsung C&T, and Samsung Heavy Industries, combining expertise in semiconductors, data centers, cloud services, and shipbuilding.

Samsung Electronics will serve as a strategic memory partner for OpenAI’s Stargate initiative, providing advanced DRAM solutions to support growing AI workloads. The company’s portfolio spans memory, logic, foundry, and advanced chip packaging technologies that support training and inference processes.

Samsung SDS will work with OpenAI to design and operate AI data centers, offer consulting and deployment services, and act as a reseller of OpenAI services in Korea, including ChatGPT Enterprise.

Samsung C&T and Samsung Heavy Industries will focus on floating data centers, exploring solutions to land scarcity, cooling costs, and carbon reduction. They will also evaluate related projects such as floating power plants and control centers.
