Samsung Electronics has announced new privacy and security features for its upcoming Galaxy smartphones running One UI 8. These updates aim to protect on-device AI features, improve cross-device threat detection and enhance Wi-Fi security using quantum-resistant encryption.
One of the key additions is Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), which creates separate, encrypted storage spaces for individual apps. This protects user-specific data used by AI features like Smart Suggestions and Now Brief. The data stays on the device and is further secured by Samsung’s hardware-based Knox Vault.
Samsung is also upgrading Knox Matrix, its multi-device security framework. Now, if a Galaxy device is compromised, it can automatically log out from the user’s Samsung account to stop threats from spreading. Users will also get alerts and can check device security status across their connected devices.
Secure Wi-Fi is being improved with post-quantum cryptography, making it more resistant to future hacking methods involving quantum computing. This is especially useful for protecting data on public networks. Features like Auto Protect, Enhanced Privacy Protection and Protection Activity also help maintain online privacy.
