Samsung Electronics is partnering with the 2025 Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) as the official display technology sponsor. The festival, held from November 11 to 20 in Culver City, will showcase films and key events on Samsung’s Onyx Cinema LED screens at the Culver Theater. Now in its 11th year, AWFF features filmmakers and titles from more than 30 Asian countries and aims to connect global audiences through film.
Samsung Onyx will be used for the festival’s opening and closing films and the awards ceremony. As the first DCI-certified cinema LED display, Onyx replaces traditional projection with LED panels that offer vivid color, deep blacks and consistent brightness, creating a more immersive viewing experience. The Culver Theater now hosts four Onyx auditoriums and one The Wall 8K auditorium.
Samsung will also hold a panel discussion on November 15 about how LED cinema technology is shaping the future of filmmaking, focusing on color accuracy, contrast and dynamic range. Earlier this year, Samsung introduced a new Onyx model with 300-nit brightness, 120Hz 4K support and improved color performance.
