Samsung Electronics has confirmed that its TVs, monitors and commercial display products have passed technical checks under the European Union’s updated Radio Equipment Directive (RED), which includes new cybersecurity rules that become mandatory from 01.08.2025.
The RED, first introduced in 2016, sets safety, electromagnetic compatibility and spectrum usage standards for products that use radio communication. In 2022, the EU updated RED to include cybersecurity measures aimed at reducing network risks, protecting user data and preventing fraud.
Samsung’s 2024–2025 product lineup for Europe including TVs, monitors, digital signs and Color E-Paper has been reviewed by TÜV SÜD. The company is also working to make other product categories meet the same standards globally.
Samsung has also integrated its own encryption technology, CryptoCore, into the Tizen operating system used in its smart TVs. This module was certified by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 2024. Smart TVs from Samsung also run on its Knox security platform, which has received certification under the Common Criteria standard every year since 2015.
