Siemens Mobility and SBS Transit have agreed to extend their Long-Term Service Support (LTSS) contract for the signaling system of Singapore’s Downtown Line (DTL). The extended agreement will run from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2047. The scope includes obsolescence management, technology updates, and system upgrades, with attention to security-related needs. The Downtown Line is a fully automated metro line covering about 44 kilometers and 37 stations, forming an important part of Singapore’s public transport infrastructure.

The agreement aims to shift from reactive to proactive obsolescence management. Siemens Mobility will identify current and potential component and subsystem obsolescence in advance and implement structured measures to address them. This work includes evaluating redesign requirements, qualifying replacement parts, and ensuring updated components align with operational needs. Ongoing lifecycle monitoring and adjusted spare parts inventories will support long-term maintenance.

Building on a previous 2024 LTSS arrangement that focused on spares and technical support, the new contract forms a broader framework for lifecycle management of the signaling system. Regular system updates will be carried out to meet evolving security and operational requirements. Siemens Mobility will assess hardware and software performance to maintain compatibility with the local operating environment while safeguarding overall system functionality.
