Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited has announced the appointment of Sundaram Damodarannair as the Chairman of the Board in the capacity of Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director.
Damodarannair has had a distinguished career spanning over four decades in corporate finance, operations, governance, and strategy. He began his journey with Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) as a management trainee in 1975 and went on to serve in several senior roles, including Chief Financial Officer (1999–2008) and later as Vice Chairman and CFO (2008–2009). He also worked with Unilever in London, handling responsibilities across Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.
In addition to his new role at Crompton, he currently serves on the boards of Infosys Limited, Zurich Kotak General Insurance Company (India) Limited, and Credila Financial Services Limited. He is also part of the governing council of KREA University and serves on the board of governors of the Institute of Financial Management and Research, Chennai.
The Board of Directors also announced a reconstitution of its key committees, with Damodarannair appointed as a member of the Audit Committee, Nomination & Remuneration Committee, Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, and Risk Management Committee, and as Chairperson of the Stakeholders’ Relationship Committee.
Commenting on the appointment, Crompton said the move strengthens its leadership and governance framework as the company continues to align with global best practices and prepare for long-term growth.
Damodarannair’s tenure will extend until April 15, 2028, or until he attains the age of 75, subject to shareholder approval.
