UST and Kaynes Semicon, a subsidiary of Kaynes Technology India, have formed a joint venture to establish a semiconductor assembly and test facility in Sanand, Gujarat. The ₹3,330 crore investment aims to bolster India’s semiconductor supply chain, with a focus on serving industries such as electronics, electric vehicles, renewables and consumer technology. The plant will operate as an OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) unit a segment where India has so far relied heavily on imports.
The move is expected to generate opportunities for domestic suppliers and contribute to employment in the region. This development also aligns with efforts to position India as a competitive player in the global semiconductor market under national policy initiatives.
