Whirlpool Corporation a sponsor of the Premier Lacrosse League is setting up a unique event in Chicago. They are turning the Chicago River into a floating arena to host the PLL for the first time since 2019. The Chicago Weekend will have four games on July 11-12 at Northwestern Medicine Field.
Fans of lacrosse are invited to enjoy the league’s comeback with the first-ever professional lacrosse game on a river. The field will be set up on a boat that will sail around the Chicago River, starting from 900 W Wells and moving between Lake Street and Michigan Avenue. This setup allows people along the River Walk to see the games and is close to the World of Whirlpool in the historic Reid Murdoch building. The boat will make stops at different points giving PLL players a chance to display their skills to onlookers.
Since 2023 Whirlpool brand has been collaborating with PLL, supporting teams like the Maryland Whipsnakes and the WLL. Together, they focus on making lacrosse more accessible through equipment programs and community initiatives.
