YouTube has introduced Premium Lite in India, offering users a lower-cost way to watch most videos without ads. Priced at ₹89 per month, the plan is part of YouTube’s effort to give viewers more flexible subscription options. It follows the global success of YouTube Music and Premium, which together now have over 125 million subscribers, including trial users.
Premium Lite allows ad-free viewing of most videos across devices such as smartphones, laptops, and TVs. However, ads will still appear on Shorts, music content, and during browsing or search. For users who want ad-free music, background play, and offline downloads, the standard Premium plan remains available.
YouTube says the expansion balances affordability with core features while also providing creators and partners with new revenue opportunities. The rollout has already begun and will become available to all users in India over the coming weeks.
