Samsung India has started producing laptops at its Greater Noida factory in India. This facility is a manufacturing hub and has already been making phones, tablets and wearables. The decision to add laptops to the production line fits with Samsung’s strategy to grow its Indian operations and take advantage of the country’s skilled workforce.
The laptops being assembled belong to Samsung’s Galaxy Book series, covering several different models. Meeting Indian demand through local production supports the government’s push for more electronics to be made in the country. This move may also help Samsung manage costs and navigate changing import policies.
India is already an important base for Samsung, hosting the company’s second-largest mobile manufacturing unit worldwide. While Samsung has a strong presence in smartphones and tablets in India, its laptop segment has so far been smaller. With this change, Samsung is expanding its product range and presence in the Indian market.
