Sony has introduced its Green Management 2030 plan, which will guide environmental action from fiscal year 2026 to 2030. The initiative is part of Sony’s broader Road to Zero strategy that aims to achieve a zero environmental footprint across its product lifecycles and business activities by 2050. The new targets are designed by back-casting from that long-term goal and build on progress made under Green Management 2025.

Key priorities include reducing greenhouse gas emissions across Scope 1 to 3 by more than 25 percent in five years and reaching net zero across the value chain by 2040. Sony plans to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 60 percent, transition to 100 percent renewable electricity and encourage suppliers to do the same. Scope 3 emissions are also targeted for a 25 percent reduction.

The plan also promotes resource circulation by cutting non-circular plastic use to 30 percent or less, using recycled tin and gold in major components, and extending product life cycles. Packaging is another focus with goals to eliminate plastic for smaller products and retail stores. Sony will also use its entertainment platforms to raise environmental awareness and drive global engagement.
