Samsung and the UN Global Compact Network India have launched DigiArivu, a programme focused on digital and STEM education in Tamil Nadu. In its first phase it will support over 3000 students in 10 government schools across Kancheepuram and Ranipet. The initiative will upgrade school infrastructure, introduce activity based STEM learning, strengthen digital access, train teachers and support wider student development.
The programme is based on research with state run schools and inputs from Samsung employees and local communities. It will use a community focused model to improve the learning environment in tier 2 and tier 3 districts. Key steps include Building as Learning Aid designs, digital equipment, libraries, sports kits and training sessions for teachers. Career guidance for Class 12 students, expert talks and health awareness camps will also be offered.
The launch event was attended by the Tamil Nadu Minister for School Education and district officials which highlights the state’s focus on digital inclusion.
Samsung will continue its work in the region through Samsung Innovation Campus which is training 5000 students this year in AI, IoT, Big Data and Coding to help build job ready skills for future tech roles.
