Collaboration Focuses on Engineering Support and European Expansion
GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy has entered into a Main Services Agreement with AFRY to support deployment of the BWRX-300 small modular reactor.
Under this collaboration, AFRY will provide engineering and advisory services, leveraging its regional expertise across Europe. The agreement is expected to support development of local industrial capabilities and participation in the growing SMR market.
The BWRX-300 is a small modular reactor technology designed to enable scalable and efficient nuclear power deployment. As part of the collaboration, AFRY will also support licensing activities with the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.
Globally, development of the BWRX-300 is progressing, with the first unit under construction at Ontario Power Generation’s Darlington site in Canada and additional projects under review in the United States.
