Alim Akhtar has been elevated to Director of Engineering at Samsung Semiconductor India Research marking a major milestone in his nearly 11 year tenure with the company. In this role he will lead advanced engineering initiatives focused on system software development SoC platform enablement and next generation semiconductor technologies supporting mobile and automotive chipsets.
Before this promotion Akhtar served as Associate Director and Head of Part at Samsung Semiconductor India Research. He led a team of more than 30 engineers responsible for board support package software for mobile and automotive SoCs while overseeing system software design decisions pre silicon validation and hardware software integration.
During his time at Samsung he contributed to several key innovations including bootloader and Linux kernel development for Exynos platforms and work on the first ARM based Chromebook developed in collaboration with Google.
Earlier in his career he worked at Toshiba and Satyam Computer Services where he gained experience in embedded systems Linux device drivers and chipset software development.
