Amar Subramanya has taken on the role of Vice President of Artificial Intelligence at Apple. His appointment comes at a time when the company is working to advance its AI features. He will oversee Apple Foundation Models, guide machine learning research and report to Craig Federighi who leads software engineering.
Amar previously served as Corporate Vice President of AI at Microsoft. Before that he spent more than sixteen years at Google in engineering and research roles which included work on the Gemini assistant and involvement in the Bard and Gemini product lines. His earlier experience includes research at Microsoft and engineering work at IBM. His background across AI research and large scale model development will support Apple’s future AI work.
