Sony Presents ESQUISSE Material Innovation Exhibit at Milan Design Week

Sony Group Corporation is presenting its design installation “ESQUISSE – A Dialogue with Materials for the Future” at Milan Design Week 2026 as part of the INTERNI exhibition.

The showcase explores how materials can shape future design through cross-disciplinary collaboration. It highlights Sony’s Original Blended Material, an eco-friendly paper-based material made from bamboo, sugarcane fibres and recycled paper, designed to support sustainable material use.

The installation features furniture and spatial designs created using this material, demonstrating its flexibility and potential across applications. Sony is also presenting Triporous, a carbon material derived from rice husks, used in cushions and rugs.

The exhibition includes contributions from designers Setsu Ito and Shinobu Ito, reflecting a broader design dialogue across materials and disciplines.

The installation was hosted at the University of Milan.
