Apple is expanding its iPhone manufacturing operations in India with plans to produce all four iPhone 17 models in the country. This represents a significant milestone as it marks the first time Apple will manufacture its complete new iPhone lineup in India including the Pro models.
The production is taking place across five manufacturing facilities in India. Indian conglomerate Tata Group is managing approximately half of the production through new plants in Tamil Nadu, while Taiwan-based Foxconn operates manufacturing facilities near Bangalore.
India now accounts for about 20% of global iPhone production as of early 2025, representing a substantial increase from previous years.
The manufacturing shift has resulted in notable export growth from India. iPhone exports from India reached $7.5 billion between April and July 2025, approaching nearly half of India’s total iPhone exports from the previous fiscal year.
The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch in September 2025, following Apple’s typical annual release schedule.
