GE Appliances, a Haier company has announced a five-year plan to invest over $3 billion in U.S. manufacturing, creating 1,000 jobs across Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. The investment will expand air conditioning and water heating products, increase production across all lines and modernize 11 U.S. plants with automation and upgraded equipment.
Projects include doubling output at the Camden, South Carolina plant, adding new AC models in Selmer, Tennessee, increasing gas range production in LaFayette, Georgia, insourcing refrigerator models in Decatur, Alabama, and expanding washer/dryer production in Louisville, Kentucky.
The plan also focuses on workforce development through partnerships with schools, flexible work schedules, apprenticeships, transportation support and free on-site healthcare.
