Google has announced a partnership with Unique Identification Authority of India to enable Aadhaar on Google Wallet. The update follows UIDAI’s launch of its new Aadhaar App.

The collaboration will allow users to securely add their Aadhaar Verifiable Credential to Google Wallet using their smartphone. Once available users will be able to store and manage their Aadhaar digitally and use it for identity verification in a more convenient way. The rollout of Aadhaar support in Google Wallet is expected to begin in the coming weeks.

Security privacy and interoperability are core to the integration. The Aadhaar Verifiable Credential will be built on global standards such as ISO 18013-5 and the W3C Digital Credentials API ensuring compatibility across platforms and services. Google Wallet will also use Zero Knowledge Proof technology which allows users to verify specific details such as age without sharing additional personal information.
